VitÄ—’s weather vanes
Titnago st. 10, KlaipÄ—da, 2015
VitÄ— is a historical site of KlaipÄ—da. Since 14th century, fishing villages on the banks of the Curonian lagoon were founded here. Later windmills, sawmills, restaurants, breweries, hotels, brothels were succesfully functioning here. Jews, merchants, travelers and other liberators of the secular world have passed by or settled here. After World War II, the Vite’s quartal was destroyed by the Soviets. Unfortunately, till nowadays, VitÄ—’s rich history is disappearing from the city’s memory. This weather vane is a reminder of our heritage and a provocation aimed to show that accessories of buildings and elements of public spaces can have a deeper meaning.
